I just had a little brush with the law....me and about 10 of my closest friends. It was just a normal day, church at Trinity, lunch at Fellini's, Octane, then down to the railroad tracks for a photo shoot, and then almost taken away in handcuffs. Why? Because apparently the railroad tracks are private property, and the railroad po-po made sure we knew that he could take us away to the slammer.
The first question he asked was, "Who were the two ladies sitting on the tracks?"
And of course it was Courtney and me, but we conspicuously hid behind the crowd. He continued with, "Have you ever seen a man sawed in half?"
Of course we had to say, "No".
"Well, in all my 60 some odd years, I won't even go into details of what all I've seen happen on these tracks." But the funny thing was that is exactly what he did. We ended up at the tracks for about an extra hour listening to Officer Ed Baker not go into details.
"Who's responsible for this?", said Ed. Before Daley(the photographer who I guess was responsible) had a chance to speak up, Carrie sweeps in like a knight in shining armor with, "I am." What a gal! Taking the rap before anyone had time to even blink.
He continues with, "Well young lady, I need your ID." Being the astounding friends we all are, we all collectively band together, "If she's going down, we are going down with her." We might as well have locked arms and formed a circle around our little warrior. We all quickly whip out our IDs. Except me, I whip out my passport, because my ID is expired and I don't want to get a possible double whammy.
As we all begin to give him our IDs, he says, "I'll be here all day if I go through all your IDs." But he took them anyway, because it gave him more time to "not give us details of all that he's seen happen on the tracks".
A few minutes later I hear, "Passport, I need you".
Me, "Oh, crap."
"I need an address for you," he says. After I give him my address, in my most polite, sweet southern belle accent, ask him what he's really going to do, and surprise! Nothing. "I ain't gonna do nothing. This is for our own personal records as a warning. It won't go on anybody's records."
So basically, we got a warning citation from the glorified railroad security guard. But it made our day more adventurous and interesting and his day more adventurous and interesting, so all in all, great day.
I’m ornamental.
